Over the years we have had a number of video games based on the Dragon Ball series, with one in Dragon Ball Fighter Z being released earlier this year and Dragon Ball Legends, which will be released later this year.
However, Dragon Ball Legends stands out from the rest, as it might be the first video game that Akira Toriyama has worked on, which will be considered canon. In addition, the original Legendary Super Saiyan in Broly is in this game, which does raise the question on whether Broly will be canon one day.
According to the games developers, Akira Toriyama has worked on the game and was the designers of the games new evil character named Shallot. This new Saiyan is also the one that many believe is the Saiyan that we saw Goku fight in the Dragon Ball Super movie preview.
However, that’s still yet to be confirmed but if this is the same character as the movie, it’s already one canon connection to the series. Then again, that’s not what has been revealed here today.
The Dragon Ball Legends official Twitter released a sneak peek at what we can expect from the video game. The game developers revealed that the game will have a story mode and that it will kick off after the events of the Tournament of Power.

This actually means that this is one of the first games that is a direct continuation of the Dragon Ball Super storyline and it’s a story that Akira Toriyama himself helped work on. As a result, we could actually consider this upcoming game canon.
We still need to wait for more information, as Toriyama has remained quiet about the game so far and we still don’t even have a released date. Until then, we will just have to wait for Dragon Ball Legends to be released date to be revealed later this year.
