Fans of the Darksiders games may finally rejoice, as 5 years after Darksiders II was released, THQ Nordic has finally announced Darksiders III.
The first two Darksiders games were released by Vigil Games and THQ, though when THQ filed for bankruptcy in 2012, many assumed that Darksiders III would never happen, though in 2013, THQ was acquired by Nordic Games (Now THQ Nordic). THQ Nordic have spent the past 4 years releasing the first 2 Darksiders games as “Darksiders: The Warmastered Edition” and “Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition”, and they did announce that they did had long term plans for a Darksiders III.
With Joe Madureira (Creative Director of the first 2 games) currently working on Battle Chasers: Night War, many assumed the game would be another few years yet, though only this week, Darksiders III was announced, and the first trailer dropped. The game is being developed by Gunfire Games, which consists of much of the same team that worked on the first 2 games, though it should be noted that Joe Madureira will not be returning as creative director (Though some of his designs from the first 2 games will be used).
The official synopsis released by THQ reads
“Earth is now overrun by the Seven Deadly Sins and the mystical creatures and degenerated beings that serve them. The Charred Council calls upon Fury to battle from the heights of heaven down through the depths of hell in a quest to restore the balance and prove that she is the most powerful of the Horsemen.”
Whilst the release date is still to be announced, it’s available for pre order on Amazon, and will be available on Playstation 4, X Box One and Microsoft Windows. So Are you looking forward to Darksiders III? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
