All right now this may be a pretty silly question but I feel it needs to be asked, why does Sarada need glasses if she has the Sharingan?
Glasses can be a hassle in battle and can be a major disadvantage that enemies can use against you, especially if you are a shinobi.
But one thing that confused me from day one is how an Uchiha can require glasses after they awaken their Sharingans? It actually contradicts what the basic Sharingans abilities are.
We first see the Sharingan in Naruto through not an Uchiha but through Hatake Kakashi, known worldwide as the copy ninja.
Why was he known as the copy ninja? Well because he had mastered over 1000 jutsu’s, can use all chakra natures and is well known for copying all of these from other shinobies abilities and techniques on the spot, all thanks to his ingeniousness and of course the sharingan.
This all made Kakashi incredibly dangerous as whatever an enemy ninja used against him, Kakashi could copy it and throw it all back simultaneously. This was also shown during the Chunnin exams from Uchiha Sasuke (Sarada’s eventual father).
The Sharingan as we know has more abilities than just being able to copy ninjutsu, it can also see chakra and put people under a genjutsu, and they are just the basic abilities.
But what I don’t understand about Sarada having glasses is that the most basic of advantages the Sharningan brings the user is essentially seeing more than what a regular person can.
So there is a contradiction here, as glasses help people who have poor eyesight see, but the Sharingan lets you see more than the regular eye, so why would you need glasses?
In that case if Sarada’s eyes are poor and she used the Sharingan, would it cancel each other out and give her normal vision?
Don’t worry yes I know the Sharingan has many other advantages and abilities, but the most basic of abilities is the advantage of extra sight, and seeing what your enemies are doing and allowing you to predict what they are about to do so you can counter it.
If Sarada’s eyesight is poor, does it also weaken the powers of the Sharingan? I suppose it would make sense to.
What happens when Sarada awakens the Mangekyo Sharingan? Will the effects of her losing her sight all together quicken as well?
These aren’t bad questions, as we know the reason the Uchiha are so dangerous is because of their visual abilities, and so if one of them had poor eyesight, would it weaken the output of their eyes powers?
It would make sense to disadvantage her sightly but the stronger Sarada gets, the stronger her visual abilities will also get, so doubt that it will stop her from being the first Uchiha Hokage one day.
Still, though, it’s interesting as it looks so far as if Sarada’s biggest advantage can also be her greatest disadvantage, it will be interesting to see if this is addressed in the anime when it comes later this year.
