One of the most exciting events of 2018 so far is almost upon us, the release of Dragon Ball FighterZ. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait the increasingly excruciating two weeks that are left as Bandai Namco has recently revealed the details of the upcoming open beta. Taking place on January 14th and 15th, the open beta will be available on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will be available through the Xbox marketplace and insider preview program as well as the Playstation store respectively. Unfortunately, no beta for steam users who will have to wait until the release of the full game.
The content available in the open beta consists of new playable characters, stages, and modes. Returning characters from the closed beta include Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Piccolo, Krillin, and Android 18. Trunks, Teen Gohan, Majiin Buu, and Android 16 have been removed this go around. New characters include Nappa, Adult Gohan, Kid Buu, and Lord Beerus.

The stages that will be in the open beta are Planet Namek, the World Tournament Arena, West City, Volcano, Wasteland, the Cell Games Arena, and Rocky Field (Evening).
Modes available in the beta are world matches which is the standard for battling other players, a battle tutorial is now available, rankings, replays, lobby stamps and avatars as well as two dramatic scenes. Based on what new characters have been added, I’d say the dramatic scenes are between Goku and Kid Buu with the other being between Goku and Beerus.
The open beta will also be made available a day early, on the 13th, to those that have pre-ordered the game digitally on either Xbox One or PlayStation 4. The full game will release on January 26th. Pre-orders are available here.
