The Unsung Joys of Ark’s Survival Evolved Single Player

It’s generally assumed that early access survival games (that’s only three of the four horsemen, zombies didn’t come along for this one) like Ark Survival Evolved are best played with friends on a PVP server in which one can wantonly murder others with an army of dinosaurs.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m in no way advocating that that isn’t a smashing way to play Ark if that’s the sort of thing you’re into. But if you’re sad and alone like me, or simply don’t enjoy having 40 hours of work blow up in your face, then maybe the single player is a better fit for you.

The thing about Ark’s multiplayer is that you’re inevitably going to be settling in a below average spot at best because all the decent ones are already taken. Singleplayer? The world is your oyster. Build wherever you please, all you need to worry about is the dinosaurs.
