Our OZ Comic-Con Adventure

Imagine this: You’re walking down the street one day, minding your own business, and out of the corner of your eye you see a hideous reptilian monster. It stares you down, hissing maliciously. Then, it poses for photos with Wolverine and the Monopoly guy. It’s either the worst acid trip ever, or Oz Comic Con has returned to Melbourne!

The team at Nerds4LifeBlog checked out all of the sights and sounds that the weekend had on offer, and hoo boy were we busy! Plenty of loot to buy and people to talk to. There were stalls as far as the eye could see, ranging from an actual tattoo booth to artwork from the über-talented BossLogic – who everyone should check out, incidentally!!

We were lucky enough to secure a few interviews with some legends of the comic book industry, so be sure to check those out!! Links are below… (just not the green-clad kind.)

One of the highlights, as always, was the wide range of cosplayers roaming the halls. A group portraying the Guardians of the Galaxy had a constant entourage in tow, eager to snap a picture with them, and we spotted more than one Babadook in our travels (fortunately, they didn’t see us!!) There was also a contingency of red and white dotting the convention, eager to celebrate Canada Day. Thank goodness I was wearing my ‘mouthy Canadian’ Deadpool shirt, so I fit right in!

It was a day of fun and excitement for all involved, and yes, I did seek out whatever Fire Emblem cosplayers I could find! I tried to pick a fight, but alas, Takumi one shot’d me. Maybe next year I’ll get the buff I need to hold my own.
