I write a lot about Dungeons and Dragons, because it was the first tabletop roleplaying game I ever played, as well as, frankly, my favourite. That said, there are a lot of other really good RPGs out there, and I know that I can’t write about them all (because I haven’t played them all, also, I only get so much room in this article), though, I will talk about some of the other tabletop roleplaying games that I have played, and enjoyed.
Star Wars Roleplaying Game
Let me just be clear- Star Wars is a popular franchise, and there are a number of roleplaying games set in that universe- I am referring to the 2012 Star Wars RPG by Fantasy Flight Games. The game itself consists of 3 different games- Edge of the Empire, in which players assume the role of Pirates, Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, etc. Age of Rebellion, in which players are Rebels, fighting the empire, and Force and Destiny, where players are the last Jedi, trying to survive during the reign of the Galactic Empire. The Star Wars RPG is open to interpretation, and a pretty easy system to get into, however, I should note that it does require a specific dice set, so your regular polyhedral dice won’t work, also, there are a lot of accessories and expansions, though, you can very easily buy the Beginner Game, and use that to run an introductory session. If you’re into Star Wars, or even just want a Sci-Fi alternative to the traditional fantasy RPG, then I’d seriously recommend you try the Star Wars Roleplaying Game.
