We’ve just begun our first week in the brave new world of Warhammer 40k’s 8th edition and boy is it a bright one.
For those of you who don’t know what Warhammer 40 000 is or why people spend ridiculous amounts of money on toy soldiers then I’ll break it down for you:
It’s like chess but with guns.
Players have a limited number of pieces, each of those has variant abilities and effects against the enemy. These can move a certain distance and there are plenty of pawns, looking at you 50 man conscript squads. Yes, this doesn’t do the grand scope of the gameplay justice but for the purposes of this, it’s fine.
The background isn’t particularly important to this article but if you’re interested you can read up on it here.
