As soon as Naruto’s story came to a close, we got to see the next generation of ninja’s take the spotlight. Step in Boruto, the son of our hero and the seventh Hokage in Naruto, is now leader of the next generation of ninja.

The film starts off in the Chunnin exams, showing us the children of our favourite Naruto characters. Boruto and his team of Sarada (Sakura and Sasuke daughter), Mitsuki (Orochimaru’s son) and the jounin Konohamaru, gives us a glimpse of what the next generation are like.

This movie is set significantly into the future, with the need for ninja’s slowly becoming irrelevant and technology booming, as peace has spread across the world.

There is a significant level of nostalgia when looking at the exams, with Boruto looking just like his father as well as some of the other characters all resembling their respected parents.

Although, Boruto is very different to his father in the sense that he actually has a lot of talent. The boy has already mastered multiple high level jutsu’s and has also learnt how to control three chakra natures.

Boruto unlike Naruto has not lived through the harsh childhood his father did however; he resents his dad. This is because of his fathers work taking away all of his attention meaning yes, Boruto is a bit of a brat.

But in the attempt to surpass his father and get his attention, he starts to train under someone we know very well, Sasuke.

Meanwhile the Uchiha has been on a mission within Kaguya’s dimensions finding Momoshiki and Kinshiki, who are members of the Otsutsuki Clan. The duo attempt to assassinate Naruto and that’s where the movie really starts to get interesting.

The film was fantastic and showed us how Konoha has changed since the end of Naruto. With all the children of our favourite Naruto characters (Especially Orochimaru’s son) and their insane abilities, it has made the Boruto series that has just started more intriguing.

So for those who loved Naruto but are sceptical to get into Boruto, this is a must watch film and it’s finally available of DVD at Madman.
