When Gohan’s real father first came into the scene he was an evil demon who had just been released after 200 years, by emperor Pilaf. (I’m just kidding, well about being Gohan’s father that is, everything else is true )
Yes, when Piccolo first broke into the scene he was quite evil, as he was the evil half of Kami (Guardian of the Earth) and wanted nothing more than to kill Goku and of course rule the world, which is strikingly similar to Vegeta but oh well.
Later Demon King Piccolo would be defeated and reincarnate himself into the Piccolo we know now, well he was still evil at that stage.
Later Piccolo would train and fight Goku once again in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament for revenge, where we got to see him transform into a Super Namekian.
Piccolo ended up being defeated by Goku and set out to become stronger in order to kill the Saiyan, which he later technically does.
Yes this alien killed Goku along with his alien brother at the start of Dragon Ball Z, while trying to save teh world, also no he wasn’t a good guy by then just yet.
Piccolo took the task of training Goku’s son Gohan, as the world was about to be invaded by more Saiyan’s except this time they were a lot stronger.
Piccolo would develop a bond with his enemies son and even sacrifice himself for that very child in the Saiyan’s attack.
Emotionally Piccolo was changing but it did take a while, just as it did for Vegeta. Piccolo whilst dead trained with King Kai and would be resurrected to fight Freeza on Namek shortly later.
Piccolo showed his incredible strength by taking on Freeza’s second form with ease after he fused with fellow Namekien Nail, meaning piccolo was by far the strongest Z-Fighter.
Ultimately Piccolo would lose and be surpassed by Goku once again, as he unlocked the powers of a Super Saiyan.
But Piccolo wasn’t done yet, surpassing everyone once more when he fused for the second time, expect this time with his other half in Kami.
With that Piccolo was the strongest Namekien to ever exist however; sadly his strength hans’t increased by much since then, as he was yet again surpassed by every Saiyan in the series.
Piccolo has become more of a mentor now, guiding Gohan, Goten, Trunks and is now taking care of Pan at times, a complete change from the villain he first as.
Pluss Piccolo has had some of the most epic entrances in Dragon Ball history, despite it being a while since we got to see him at his best.
He was badass and strong, what else do you need? If only he remained strong, at the moment I feel as if he has become a little irrelevant.
Hopefully in this upcoming Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super, we can see the old epic Piccolo we fell in love with as kids.
