With the end of season four Vikings fans were left with so many questions, listed below is exactly what most fans will be wondering. This list highlights the main reasons we are waiting in such anticipation, for the next season to air.
- How big of a presence will Rollo have?
Rollo had a minor presence at the end of season four after the time skip however; he has offered land to his former countrymen in that time.
Will Rollo make an impact come season 5? Or has his story ended? Maybe through Bjorn needing to pass his waters again, we can see more from the traitorous brother of Ragnar.
- Is Torvi Dead?
Towards the end of season four we got to see an attempted takeover of Kattegat and also a severely wounded Torvi.
However, it is still unclear whether or not Bjorn’s wife is in fact dead, as she was seen blinking despite her injuries.
- Will Ivar be punished for his betrayal and murder of his brother Sigurd?
Now this is a question I’m sure all Vikings fans are wondering, as there is no way that Ivar’s brothers will take this murder lightly.
This killing was by far even worse than their mothers murder by the hand of Lagertha, as its reasoning was pitiful and immature.
- What will be King Aethelwulf’s next move be?
Season four brought us the end of there kings but the beginning of a new king of England, in Aethelfulf.
Now seeking revenge on the Vikings for the death of his father, what will his next move be, In restoring his kingdom?
- Will Lagertha die?
We know that King Harald wants to take over all of Norway and Lagertha stands in the way. We do also see a glimpse of a happy Harald in the season five preview, with what looks to be a crown.
Does this mean Lagertha is defeated? We know that in history that Harald does become the first king of Norway however, that doesn’t mean Lagertha dies by his hands.
Also we cannot forget the Seer’s prophecy where he stated that Lagertha will die at the hands of a son of Ragnar. Will this happen in season 5?
- Now that Lagertha knows of Harald’s plans, what will she do?
As we know Bjorn wants to travel to Mediterranean again but will most likely return home first. Therefore, if he was to discover the betrayal of Harald and his brother during their raid in England, I am sure that he will not be too happy.
It is also possible that Harald may assume that his plans were successful, which was not the case, what will Lagertha’s next move be as a result?
- Who is Bishop Hegemand?
At the end of season four we see a new character appear, a bishop but obviously from his brief glimpse of his actions, not an ordinarily man of god.
Next to the bed where he was consoling a newly grieving widow, in a unique way for a priest, there was a sword and armour.
In the preview for season five it looks as if he is the leader to force out the great army, so we are left wondering, who is this man?
- Will Magnus appear in season five?
Magnus was denied by Ragnar as a son and thrown away by his fostered family (who killed his mother) King Aethelfulf.
If there is another time skip like we have seen in previous seasons, this boy has enough motives to be a threat to not only his home country, but the Vikings as well.
- What of Bjorn’s settlement?
Former ruler of Wessex and Mercia King Egbert gave the sons of Ragnar land under his stamp of approval, as long as he got to choose the manner of his death.
The only issue is here is that there didn’t seem to be anyone who wanted to take command of the lands, as Ivar wanted to raid and Bjorn has plans of his own elsewhere.
We do know that in real life a son of Ragnar did become ruler of Northumbria for some time after their revenge however, events in the series are looking to differ, especially as Sigurd is now dead.
Plus we also have to remember that Egbert was no longer king when he gave Bjorn legal right to the land. That could mean that the documents hold no value, as he had no power at the time of their approval.
- Where does Floki go?
Floki has lost his daughter, his best friend and now his wife, he walked away at the end of season four with nothing.
What will happen to him now? At the moment his future looks pretty bleak but hopefully we will see something great from him again.
