As we have stepped into the new year of 2017, there are a plethora amount of games coming out, although there are some that we here at Nerds4LifeBlog are more excited about. That’s why I narrowed it down to our Top 15 Games to look forward to in 2017.
Number 15 – Ever Oasis
Ever Oasis is an action-adventure role-playing game made by Grezzo and published by Nintendo for the 3DS. This game is filled with caves and puzzles in dungeons! You play as seedling you creates a village to help launch as a point to find your older brother. This game is too watch out for if you are interested in tactical RPG’s.
Number 14 – Cuphead
Cuphead is a Shoot’em up, Platform indie video game made by Studio MDHR from two brothers who loved creating this run and gun game in 1930’s cartoon style. This game is based around an interesting concept of what it would be like if a game was just a continuous boss fight. This will be an awesome grab for any Xbox One owner out there.
Number 13 – Tekken 7
Tekken 7 takes the high slot of 13 on this list mainly because this game was an arcade release in 2016 and finally getting to see the light on the consoles, in early this year. This game is still amazing though, as it introduces two new mechanics, the first being Power Crush and secondly, the exciting Rage Art!
Number 12 – Pikmin for Nintendo 3DS (working title)
Surprisingly enough the Pikmin series from Nintendo is getting a spin-off title for the 3DS. What’s even more surprising is that it’s changed from 3rd person to a 2D plat-former! It’s amazing now that we can play Pikmin on the go!
Number 11 – God of War
A new God of War is set to release sometime in 2017 from the amazing development team at Santa Monica Studio. This game is the eighth installment into the series and will somewhat be like a soft reboot from what’s been told. Although, the series has focused on Kratos and Greek mythology, this time around it’s focal point is on Kratos and his son set in the world of Norse mythos.
Number 10 – Persona 5
Persona 5 from the Megami Tensei franchise developed by Atlus is quite a unique and strange role-playing video game. This social simulation game has stepped up its gameplay with crafting and the Social Link system now which is dubbed Cooperation is a definitely a step up from the previous Persona 3 and 4. This game is a must for any fan of RPG’s or wanting something new. This game releases on April 4 for Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.
Number 9 – Vampyr
Vampyr is a new upcoming game made by Dontnod Entertainment as an action role-playing game where you play as a vampire doctor. The video game is based on the 1918 London Spanish flu pandemic, which it’s location and some characters, etc took heavy inspiration from.
Number 8 – South Park: The Fractured but Whole
South Park: The Fractured but Whole is the video game of the popular animated American TV show of the same name and is also the sequel to the first game, South Park: The Stick of Truth. The game is a hilarious continue of the TV series and game that has improved on it’s already great RPG elements. This is definitely a game to watch out for this year.
Number 7 – Mass Effect: Andromeda
Bioware and Electronic Arts successor to 2012’s end to the trilogy, Mass Effect 3 is Mass Effect Andromeda, an upcoming RPG third-person shooter. This is the first time in the series that the game is set in an open world environment and we can’t be happier. It also includes more freedom when first selecting your character, you are able to freely assign any skills that they want so that they can build towards how they really want to play.
Number 6 – Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemtion 2 is a sequel to the first critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption made by the wonderful Rockstar Games. This amazing game will continue the open world western action-adventure gameplay and hopefully continue in the previous titles footsteps to be a great game.
Number 5 – Resident Evil: Biohazard
The newest title for the Resident Evil series is set to release quite quickly this year at the end January. This game also includes VR for the Playstation players out there which is definitely amazing for anyone who wants to experience the survival horror first person shooter up close and personal. In this new installment the players will control the character Ethan and it’s expected that it the game will not be a gun fest like certain previous titles but include other mechanics the audience will remember be more frequent like past games.
Number 4 – Yooka-Laylee
The spiritual successor to the classic series Banjo-Kazooie is here, Yooka-Laylee! The team Playtonic Games made up of several former key members from Rare during the Nintendo 64 era. This cheerful game plays similarly to Banjo-Kazooie’s gameplay which is amazing and it also adds the feature of local coooperative for two players but also has mini-games for 2-4 players! This game is definitely for any old fans of Banjo-Kazooie!
Number 3 – Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn is new game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony for the Playstation 4. The game takes an interesting twist on what life would look like if it was taken over robots but not in the way you think. It’s like the world as gone back ages ago but instead of just having dinosaurs or woolly mammoths, you have all these different types of robots in animal like structures. Everyone should watch out for the release of this game.
Number 2 – Halo Wars 2
The next installment to the front runner of Microsoft brand the Halo series is Halo Wars 2. Developed by of course the great 343 Industries and Creative Assembly, this is the sequel to the 2009 game Halo Wars. In this brand new video game, we see the return of human crew onboard the UNSC warship Spirit of Fire against the newest aliens in the brand, the faction known as the Banished.
Number 1 – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
For the number one slot for the list we have Nintendo’s biggest game for 2017, The Legend of Zelda: Breathe the Wild for both the Wii u and the Nintendo Switch. This game is a major switch into the series first HD resolution as well as a departure from the classic conventions, with an open-world environment and an advanced physics engine as well as being able to truly play the dungeons in any possible order. This game is set out to be a bigger detailed game than any other before compared to the likes of the Bethesda Elder Scrolls and Fallout series. This is a must have choice of game to buy this year, you can’t miss out.
